I already have 2 HP laptop PCs, but with one failing,and a desire to have something a little smaller, I started on a 3 week exploration for one of the new netbooks.I did extensive and exhaustive research,reading especially the Amazon,PC Magazine,etc reviews. I did not have CD or DVD requirements,nor did I want excessive bells and whistles. It should be noted that in evaluating and reading the reviews(especially those in Amazon) the model number does not always check out with the item reviwed. In other words, I often found a review supposedly evaluating the d250-1042, when it fact it was a d250-1383.Also, some of models with different model #s were all the same except for the price and the color! I finally selected the 1383 and it is perfect!! It came before it was promised,was very well packaged and set up easily. It is a little sparce on instructions, and I am not at all computer-adept; but You-Tube & the aforementioned reviews made set up easy. I uninstalled a number of the unwanted and unneeded programs and it has worked like a charm. It boots up within 35 seconds,works very smoothly and has caused no problems. It has Windows 7 Starter,which I initially did not want but it seems to be working well and moves from one program to the next easily. I’ve only used it unplugged 3 or 4 times but each time the battery has lasted well into the 5-7 hour range. Its key board,tho small, is not too small and I am a peck and poke typist anyway.The Asus and the Toshiba are better and more expensive netbooks; but for the price, this Acer Aspire One 1383 “red beauty” can’t be beat!

I love this little netbook. Was concerned about all the complaints about the mouse pad “key” being one piece rather than two separate ones, well, if you use the touch pad correctly, it doesn,t matter about the one big key, because you never even have to use it! Complaints about the touch pad being too sensitive or even “unless”?, I really don,t agree, thought I would want a seperate mouse, but, I got use to the pad and WOW! Don,t need a “real” mouse (0ne less thing to buy and keep up with) and like i said, I don,t even need the “clicker” below the pad, I just “click” on the pad itself, it,s great!!

I really loved this cute netbook and am very much enjoying windows 7!! I think that anyone who’s looking for a netbook for a not-so-tech-savy teenager (I’m a girl) should buy this, it’s very convenient and works well plus, the keyboard is soo easy to use!

I bought my netbook primarily for travel. I need to store my photos onto a hard drive, and then have the ability to back them up to my Western Digital hard drive. Internet access and email were my other basic needs. And it was never meant to replace my notebook.

Okay, netbooks don’t have DVD or CD burners and generally have less memory and RAM than other laptops. That being said, this is an excellent netbook. This comes with Windows 7 Starter which is a huge improvement over Vista and is as good as or better than windows XP. This netbook is easily upgradeable to 2 GB RAM and though I haven’t found any need to upgrade it performance-wise I am going to stick an extra 1GB in it. Acer is a quality brand and is very affordable and the colors of this little netbook make it cooler than the average black ones out there. If you don’t mind the screen size, don’t need/want a DVD or CD drive then this is perfect. Homework, internet browsing and general apps all run well on it.

The Acer Aspire One D250-1633 is exactly as advertised. A nice small netbook with an easy to read screen. Windows 7 Starter works fine. So does Office 2007. I was concerned about the 1 GB memory but Windows 7 Starter seems very lean and Word and Excel and Internet Explorer run (at the same time) with memory to spare. The keyboard certainly is smaller than normal, but I’m a hunt and peck typist so it makes little difference to me. If you’re looking for a small, light, inexpensive netbook this seems like a good choice.
